Applying for an Online Bible School

STARTING AN ONLINE BIBLE SCHOOL

Begin by navigating to Bibleschools.com/apply. Please pay close attention to the directions below, as they are important to protecting the integrity of our Bible schools.

Please complete the following form and ask your pastor or head elder to email us at [email protected], confirming that you are a Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and that they support your request to start an online Bible school.

After submitting your application, we will review it and follow up with the next steps. You will first receive an email asking you to activate your teacher account, followed by a second email with the link to your online school and additional getting-started resources.

Promoting Your School

REACHING YOUR COMMUNITY
Reach your community and invite people to study with these strategies:
  1. Church Website - Add a link to your online school
  2. Print Materials - Share your school web address through:
    • Enrollment cards for your Discover Bible School
    • Flyers, bookmarks, and business cards
    • Bulletin board ads in stores, laundromats, and public places
  3. Social Media - Promote on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other platforms
  4. Church Communications:
    • Include invitations in church bulletins
    • Ask church members to add the link to their email signature

    How It Works

    FOR STUDENTS:
    1. When people visit your online school and complete the first lesson, they can sign up and become your students.
    2. Registration is simple — they just need to provide their name, email address, and a password.
    FOR TEACHERS:
    1. You'll receive an email notification when a new student signs up in your school.
    2. You'll also be assigned students within a certain radius who register on the main website.
    3. When you receive a notification, sign in to see students in the "Student Progress to Review" area.
    REVIEWING STUDENT WORK:
    1. Click on the student's name, then select the lesson number.
    2. Students have two attempts to answer correctly.
    3. Click "Show Answer" to view the student's response.
    4. Use the message box in each lesson to provide your feedback and encouragement.

    Managing Your School

    CUSTOMIZING YOUR HOMEPAGE

Your school's homepage is important for making a good first impression. Here's how to customize it:

    1. Sign in to your school and go to the "Activity Monitor" page (you can click "Dashboard" on the top bar if needed).
    2. Go to Schools, click your school name, then Content
    3. Customize these elements:
      • Background image (default is a hand with Bible)
      • Welcome message
      • Introduction text
      • Video link (currently supports Vimeo only)
      • Appearance template (choose the overall look and style of your school)
      • Logo and school name (toggle whether to display your logo and school name)
    4. Footer Information: Your school's address, phone number, and email are stored for records. To show any of these on your homepage footer, go to Schools, click your school name, and check the boxes next to the information you want displayed.

    ADDING MORE COURSES
    1. Go to Schools, click your school name, then Courses
    2. Drag courses from "Available Courses" to "Offered Courses"
    3. Reorder courses by dragging them up or down (this affects the display order on your homepage)
    4. Printed Lessons Option: If your church has a registered Discover Bible School correspondence program, check the "Printed lessons available?" box. When people request printed lessons, we'll forward their requests to the appropriate coordinator for their zip code.

    ADDING TEACHERS
You can create accounts for church members to help manage students:
    1. Go to Teachers and "+Create new teacher"
    2. New teachers will receive an email to confirm their account and set their password
IMPORTANT: All new students are initially assigned to the Head Teacher, who then assigns them to other teachers in the school.
